The Levels Of Field Managers And Their Relationships
The 4 Levels of Field Managers and their Relationships Multi unit enterprises are large corporations that own or manage several stores around the country. For example Target, Walmart, Home Depot, large hotel chains like Marriott and car dealerships. How do this corporations manage such an extensive number of stores? How do they all look and act the same? According to David A. Garvin and Lynne C. Levesque authors of the HBR article The Multiunit Enterprise, these large corporations need a hierarchy of field managers that will effectively lead all stores. To manage large enterprises there needs to be a certain order, this is where the different management hierarchies come in. Every single step up the ladder has a larger responsibility and more control over benchmarks and setting goals. However, you can never forget that itââ¬â¢s a team effort. Itââ¬â¢s about strengthening relationships to be able to work together and communicate effectively. There are four levels of field managers; store manager, district managers, regional vice presidents and divisional heads. Although this might vary from industry to industry this is believed to be true for the majority of large corporations. Store managers: are responsible for both the day to-day operations and the execution of new initiatives.
